NEW CUMBERLAND
FIRE DEPARTMENT
___________________________________________________________________
August 2011
The New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department needs your support.
The New Cumberland Fire Department is asking for the financial support of all borough residents and businesses as our Annual Fund Drive gets underway with this newsletter.
The NCFD is an all-volunteer fire department receiving 20% of our operating capital from your tax dollars. The balance of our operating capital comes from the contributions we receive from the generous members of our community. Without this support, our fire department would be unable to operate and provide the high level of service we currently furnish to our residents and businesses.
Inflation, the rapid advance of technology and stricter fire fighting and safety standards are issues ore department faces on a daily basis. We employ the most cost-effective measures when updating our apparatus. We have elected in the past to refurbish our existing equipment instead of purchasing new. This realized a savings of thousands of dollars to the department and borough residents, while ensuring we have equipment capable of serving our community into the next century. Your contribution is a fractional portion of your potential tax liability for a fully paid fire department. A fully paid, non-volunteer fire department could easily cost taxpayers over one million dollars a year in higher taxes for wages and benefits alone, not including equipment cost and maintenance.
We are asking that each resident and business make a minimum contribution of $50.00 to our Annual Fund Drive. Larger or smaller donations will be gratefully accepted! This contribution is tax deductible. We have enclosed a self- addressed return envelope for your convenience.
The NCFD would like to thank all the members of our community for their generosity and support. Without your help we would not exist.
We have served this community for over 100 years and look forward with pleasure as we continue our service to our friends and neighbors.
WE NEED MEMBERS
_______________________________________________________________________
There are many volunteer organizations vying for your time and energy. There just never seems to be enough people to get the job done for any volunteer organization. The same holds true for the NCFD, our members wear many hats and put in many long hours.
We always need dedicated, concerned individuals interested in becoming a firefighter or an Emergency Medical Technician for our ambulance. That is what people think of most when deciding to join a fire department. That isn't everyone's desire and we understand that. What the public doesn't realize is we also desperately need people who have no desire to fight fires or be on the ambulance. We need good, hard working individuals to help us with our fundraising activities and our administrative work. Whether it is help stuffing envelopes for the three fundraising mailings we do every year or people who like to cook, serve meals or clean up after a dinner or a wedding reception catering. We need your time and your talents so we don't overwork our members who do want to fight fires or be on the ambulance. Every job in our fire department is equally important and equally rewarding.
Please keep up with our website at http://WWW.ncfd10.com for any events and fundraisers for our volunteer department! The NCFD has Bingo every Sunday, a haunted house every Halloween, fundraisers throughout the year and is a huge supporter of the Borough of New Cumberland and other organizations within this borough. As always, our rental hall is open for rental for you birthday parties and wedding receptions...and MUCH MUCH MORE! Stop by our website and check us out!
A BIG THANK YOU
